Creative Youth Production’s staff and youth leaders have been busy adapting the fairy tale, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs into a magical urban musical, “Rainblu and the 7 Dwarfs”.
CYP has 41 youth from the ages of 9-18 years old participating in their summer program at James J. Curiale School this July 2014. The team of youth leaders met with the staff in June for two workshops to rough draft the script for the new adaptation. Because this team is in their second year together the creative process was smooth and efficient. Using improve exercises, discussions, and strong voices from our youth on what they wanted in the script, the storyline was unfolded in two days. It was finished the first week of the program with the participants filling out the unfinished scenes and final touches were made by the characters who got casted.
CYP has added a fourth performance in the final week of of the program. CYP will premier the production at Cesar A. Batalla School on Tuesday July 29th at 1:00p.m, James J. Curiale School on Wednesday July 30th at 1:00p.m. and Thursday July 31st at the Northbranch Library at 11:00a.m. with a final big production downtown at McLevy Green Park for an outdoor 6:00p.m. show.
